This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 2004 Headline Books Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. There is only very light natural tanning to pages from age and the pages are very clean. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good, showing light shelf wear corners/edges but still clean and shiny. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 658 pages including index.
Wartime Britain 1939-1945 by Juliet Gardiner is a comprehensive account of the complexities of life on the home front during World War Two. It tells the story of the war in voices from Orkney Islands to Cornwall, Belfast to the Welsh Valleys. The war changed everything and the government feared how the British people would react. Would they pull together? Men and women were separated, rationed, bombed and exhausted. The book is meticulously researched and detailed with engaging text and multiple vintage photos spreads.
