The Life of Thomas More by Peter Ackroyd is a reconstruction of the remarkable life of the brilliant lawyer, philosopher, and statesman. Thomas More was a towering English figure, author of a political fantasy that gave name to a literary genre (Utopia) and most famously known for being a Catholic martyr and saint. Unfortunately, he was executed when he refused to follow King Henry Vlll in severing England's ties from the Catholic Church. Readers see all sides of More's character and history in this towering biography.
