Outlines from The Outpost by John Estes Cooke is a history of the authors time with calvary leader J.E.B. Stuart. Cooke served on Stuart's staff. From the preface; "This story of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia is a drama os great adventure". In the Civil War, cavalry was of great importance. They were the eyes and ears of the commanders. From Stuart's ride around McClellan in June 1862 to the tragic end of a great army, the book provides a vivid and fascinating portrait. This edition features a frontispiece of Stuart and still contains the original tissue guard opposite frontispiece.
