This is a very good hardcover. Circa 1940's Walter J Black Publishing, Published for The Classics Club. This copy is still very good inside. The pages are very good and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 412 pages.
In the 1940's The Classics Club published a series of books designed to provide the general public with classic literature and works of distinction. Walter J. Black published the books and they were designed with a fine binding appearance that owners could collect and display without breaking the bank. The bindings are very nice and feature very nice sewn (not glued) bindings with red top stain to outer edge. The Classics Club logo appears on the front and title/author lettering on spine. They were handsomely displayed by owners and collected for both appearance and substance
