Do Them No Harm Lewis & Clark Among the Nez Perce by Zoa L. Swayne paints a memorable and vivid portrait of the Nez Perce life and culture. In autumn 1805, a ragged group of strangers staggered into a camp of Nez Perce Indias on the Kooskooskee River, in what is now northern Idaho. The natives considered killing the strangers and taking their treasures but instead, they heard an old woman who said " Do them no harm". That decision marked the beginning of a friendship between the Nez Perce and the members of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The book is illustrated with pictures here and there along with 4 illustrated maps of the Lewis and Clark Expedition through Nez Perce country at the end of the book.
