This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1971 Abrams Publishing WITH the original catalogue of prints that accompany the book. This copy is very clean inside. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good but originally there was a half glassine jacket over the full jacket which is now missing and left yellowing to the full jacket were originally in place. (see photo) The full jacket which accompanies this copy is still clean and shiny, very good overall despite the yellowing from the half glassine. Larger size, imperial octavo book size or 8" x 11.5" with 270 pages.
The World of M.C. Escher includes a special color section along with numerous working drawings and preparatory prints. 300 illustrations give a comprehensive view of Escher's works. Five essays are included, one by Escher himself and others by scientists and art historians. A catalog of his work accompanies this volume.
Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher was known for his prints featuring optical illusions and impossible structures. His work combined complex mathematics, draftsmanship, and blended realism and fantasy.
