This is a very good set of 3 hardcovers with accompanying slipcase. 1981 Random House Publishing. All 3 volumes in this set are in very good condition. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The bindings are tight and straight. Black cloth hardcover boards under jackets are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. the dust jackets are still clean and shiny with only very minor shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is very good, clean, shiny and also with only a hint of shelf wear. Each volume is Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5".
32 years after the death of Proust, the Pléiade edition of A La Recherche Du Temps Peru was published in Paris. Based on extensive studies, it restored previously omitted passages along with numerous small but significant changes throughout the 7 books. In the late 60's the last book, Time Regained, was translated into English from the Pléiade edition by Andreas Mayor who unfortunately died before he could complete the task. French scholar Terence Kilmartin then completed the task. This set is the result, the definitive English version of the masterpiece.
Volume One contains Swann's Way, Within a Budding, and Grove. Volume Two contains The Guermantes Way and Cities of the Plain. Volume Three contains The Captive, The Fugitive, and the Past Recaptured.
