This is a near fine (almost like new) leather-bound hardcover. 1977 Franklin Library Limited Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: only minor flaw is fading inside front cover where previous owners bookplate removed (see photo). Accented with fine binding appointments, this edition features tan leather binding with gold design front and back. Silk moire fabric endpapers front and back. Attached satin bookmark. Fine Smyth sewn binding for durability and looks. Hubbed spine and all three page edges tipped in gold gilt. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 286 pages.
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway was first published in 1926 and was his first novel. The novel is based upon Hemingway's circle of friends and his trip to Paris in 1920 and Spain in 1925. It is divided into two "books". Book One of the novel opens with a society of America expatriates in Paris. Book two continues the story with heavy drinking and a trip to Spain.
