This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1950 McGraw Hill Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages do have light natural tanning from age but no foxing, markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards feature navy quarter trim with crest design front and gold lettering along spine. The hardcover boards are also very good with light shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 370 pages. Illustrated maps inside front and back endpapers.
This edition of Boswell's London Journal 1762-1763 has been published from the original manuscript with an Intro and Note from Frederick A. Pottle. Preface by Christopher Morley. It is one of the Yale Editions of the Private Papers of James Boswell published by McGraw Hill Publishing, 1950. Illustrated maps of London front and back endpapers that locate many of the places mentioned in the journal. Best known for his biography of Samuel Johnson, the English writer, his journal is the publication of his life through and in London. Boswell was a Scottish biographer, diarist and lawyer.
