This is a very good hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1938 Heritage Press. This copy is very good inside and out BUT PLEASE NOTE: inside front cover there is a mild separation of endpapers But they are still tight to binding,(see photo) priced accordingly. Inside pages are very clean and illustrations bright and colorful. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards feature standard Heritage Press design front and lettering along spine. There is only light shelf wear and light fading along spine on this copy. The accompanying slipcase is very good and solid with light shelf wear mostly corners/edges. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 764 pages.
Originally titled The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club was the first novel Dickens published in 1837. The club is designed for members to travel the English countryside and report their journeys to other members. A legal battle ensues when Mr Pickwick and his landlady leads to them both being imprisoned for debt. The legal battle became one of the most famous in English literature, Bardell v Pickwick.
