This is a very good set of two hardcover. 1952 Simon & Schuster Publishing. This set is very good inside and out. The pages are clean with only a hint of natural tanning from age. NOTE: we did see a few pages that have a sentence underlined in pencil but it is minimal and not extensive. The bindings are tight and straight. Grey hardcover boards are also very good both volumes with only a hint of shelf wear. Each volume is standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 1158 pages collectively.
Charles Dickens His Tragedy and Triumph by Edgar Johnson is a sweeping biography of the English author. Each volume contains an extensive photo and illustration section depicting the life and times of Dickens along with a frontispiece illustration of Charles Dickens at age 25 and middle age. There are ten parts between the two volumes along with genealogical charts, bibliography and index.
