This is a very good hardcover. Circa 1950's reprint of the 1942 Walter J Black Classic Club books. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages are still very clean and crisp. The binding is tight and straight. Burnt orange hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. NOTE: there is some light dust spotting along top outer page edge but does not carry over to inside pages. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 358 pages.
Originally published in 1854, Walden or Life in the Wood by Henry David Thoreau is the author's reflection on living a simple life in the woods of nature. It is somewhat a statement of independence, social experiment, and spiritual awakening. It is set on Walden Pond where Thoreau built a cabin and lived there over the course of 2 years, 2 months, and 2 days. The land upon where the cabin was built was owned by fellow author and friend of Thoreau's, Ralph Waldo Emerson.
