This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1999 Mountain Press. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: we noticed about 6 pages which have small notations in pencil along the margins or an underlined sentence. Overall the majority of pages are unmarked. The binding is tight and straight. Tan cloth hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good, also with only a hint of shelf wear and still clean and shiny. Royal octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 216 pages including index.
William Henry Jackson Framing the Frontier by Douglas Waitley reveals the inspiration, courage and contradictions of a remarkable man. The stunning photos by Jackson of the Rocky Mountains, Mesa Verde, The Tetons and Yellowstone surpassed all expectations and helped persuade Congress to preserve the area as America's National Parks. In the late 19th century he captured on film what the world wanted to see. His 1870 expedition with the first Hayden Scientific Survey of the West was so successful it lead to additional expeditions and his work became world renowned.
