This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1970 Harvard University Press First American Edition. This copy is actually still crisp and clean inside. The pages are crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Green cloth hardcover boards are also very good with barely a hint of shelf wear. The gold lettering along spine is very good with no fading. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 288 pages and illustrated chronology front and back endpapers.
The Nature of Light An Historical Survey by Vasco Ronchi, 1970 Harvard University Press Edition, has been translated by V. Barocas. It was originally published in Italian in 1939. It includes a translator's foreword. There are 8 chapters, several color plates along with extensive black and white plates. Chapters include Optics in the Graeco-Roman Age, Optics in the Middle Ages, Downfall of Ancient Optics, Descartes to Grimaldi, Newton and Huygens, Transition from 18th to 19th Century, Triumph of Wave Theory, and What is Light.
