This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1989 Ticknor & Fields Publishing, BOMC edition. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages only have very light natural tanning from age and are very clean and still crisp. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards under jacket have black cloth quarter trim w gold lettering along spine and are very good with only very light shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny, very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 651 pages.
The Civil War Papers of George B. McClellan Selected Correspondence 1860-1865 by Stephen Sears was written as a companion to the biography published around the same time. It is a narrative from one of the chief characters in the Civil War. 813 letters are presented and included are the letters to his wife which it is speculated were to be reminders of events for his memoirs. Other letters reveal give information on military operations and political interventions. The letters can give hints as to the Union military failure in Virginia.
