This is a very good large hardcover with dust jacket. 11th Printing 1977 Macmillan Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Green cloth hardcover boards under jacket are exceptionally good. They are very clean featuring silver design front and silver design/lettering along spine. The hardcover boards are showing barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good, clean and still shiny But showing light shelf wear along edges/corners. This is a large coffee table style book, quarto book size or 9" x 13".
The Birds of American by John James Audubon contains 435 plates in the volume that were originally published by Audubon in London. The book was originally engraved and printed in England in the 1830's in an edition of fewer than 200. This edition has been reproduced from the original "elephant folio" of Audubon's birds with all 435 illustrations. It is a beautiful edition representative of the original rare Elephant Folio edition.
