This is a good hardcover with an acceptable as present dust jacket. 1943 The Press of the Readers Club edition. This copy is good inside and out. The pages only have very light natural tanning from age and are clean. The grey hardcover boards are good with only light shelf wear and feature Readers Club design front and red block spine with title/author lettering on spine. The binding is tight and straight. The accompanying dust jacket is acceptable as present but carrying extensive shelf wear including tears and wearing. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 472 pages.
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins was first published as a serial in 1868 and been published in book form since then. This edition includes the foreword by Alexander Woollcott who tells that this novel was the first full-length detective story in English literature. It has been called the greatest detective story of all time.
