This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket and archival clear sleeve. 1983 Viking Press. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages are still very clean and crisp w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Red hardcover boards under jacket have black quarter trim and are also very good with only light shelf wear. The accompanying illustrated dust jacket has been protected by a clear archival sleeve and is also very good. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 339 pages.
Chickenhawk by Robert Mason is the story of the right stuff in the wrong war. From the dust jacket; "All Robert Mason knew when he entered the U.S. Army wanting to fly helicopters. And as one of the first wave of assault helicopter pilots to ship out to South Vietnam in 1965, he did just that, flying more than 1000 combat missions in the space of a years tour of duty."
The book is a tale of duty and sacrifice and the mental wounds incurred, including the reception received upon returning from the war.
