This is a good and solid set of two hardcovers. Two Volume Set 1931 First Edition Frederick A Stokes Publishing. This set is very good inside. NOTE: inside Volume One the front endpaper is showing separation from the underlying binding BUT it was the only area we saw of such, rest of pages both volumes tight and straight to binding. The pages only show light natural tanning from age and are clean w no markings seen either volume. Blue hardcover boards on both are good and solid with some fading along the spines of both and light shelf wear. Each volume contains a photographic frontispiece (Volume One) and illustrated frontispiece (Volume Two) each with tissue guard still in place. Each volume is medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 400 pages volume one and 436 pages volume two including index.
My Experiences in the World War is the memoirs of General of the Armies John J. Pershing during World War One. The work is dedicated to The Unknown Soldier. Volume Two contains two pull-out maps that make up the 69 total maps in the volumes. Extensive vintage photos throughout. There are accounts of battles, training, diplomacy. Volume One contains his time as commander of the American Expeditionary Forces 1917-1918. Volume Two contains the period of Allied cooperation at the end of the spring offensive to the Allied Victory Parade in Paris, 1918. The work received the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1932.
