This is a very good hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1971 Heritage Press w original Heritage Press Sandglass pamphlet. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: there is dust spotting w fading along the spine where exposed when slipcased but overall the cover is very good (see photo). The inside pages are still crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only very light shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 117 pages including notes.
Publius Ovidius Naso - Ovid- was born one year after Caesar walked into the Senate for the last time. The following civil war had little effect on Ovid as he lived deep in the mountains far from Rome. Augustus was the ruler when he traveled to the capital for his education. He became a popular poet until Augustus banished him. One of the reasons for this may have been the publication of The Art of Love.
This edition has been translated by B.P. Moore and is finely illustrated by Eric Fraser.
