Cherokee Outlet Cowboy - The Recollections of Laban S. Records is authored by Laban Records and Edited Ellen Jayne Maris Wheeler. At 15, Laban moved west with his family. 60-some years later, he recalled his move and experiences through the year 1892. He had settled with his wife and children on the claim he staked in the Cheyenne-Arapaho Run. He offers a new perspective on events such as close escape from the raid by Dull Knife and other Cheyenne warriors in 1878. He knew the participants of the Medicine Lodge bank robbery and the Potts-Frankin shootout on the T-5 Ranch. Most memorable of his stories may be the everyday cowboy life. Herding cattle, riding horses, surviving the rigors of the west such as tornadoes, rattlesnakes, outlaws and harsh weather make for inspiring stories and fill the book. A true memory of how the Old West was really won.
