This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1982 Franklin Library. NOTE: Franklin Library published various edition from fine leather bound to handsome reprints in standard binding. This is NOT a leather-bound with fine binding appointments, rather a handsome reprint published for average collectors. Although not bound in leather this edition does feature handsome blue hardcover boards w gold design front and gold design and title lettering spine. The appearance of a hubbed spine is given and a durable sewn binding is featured. All three pages edges are tipped in gold gilt. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Navy blue hardcover boards are also near fine with only a hint of shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 375 pages.
The Annals of Tacitus is a history of the Roman Empire. Tacitus was a Roman historian and senator. This edition has been translated by Alfred John Church and William Jackson Brodribb. It features the etchings of Giovanni Battista Piranesi.
