The Worlds 50 Best Short Novels 10 Volume Set Funk & Wagnalls Publishing circa 1940's Literature and Fiction Book Sets Book Decor Gift Books

This is a very good set of 10 small hardcovers. Funk and Wagnalls Publishing, originally published 1929 and reprinted in several variations. Since reprints did not update the copyright page, this set along w most sets, states 1929 but it is believed to be a reprint edition circa 1940's. Each volume is very good inside and out. There is light natural tanning to pages from age but they are very clean w no markings seen. The bindings on all are tight and straight BUT one single volume, VOLUME SIX, is showing slight separation of binding inside first two pages BUT pages still tight to binding. Bound in red hardcover boards, there is title lettering and design along the spine of each. There is some light dust spotting along some of the outer page edges that does NOT carry over to inside. Each of the volumes hardcover boards are very good with light shelf wear mostly at corners/edges. Mild "bumps" to corners can be found but overall each hardcover is very good. This is a SMALLER set of hardcovers, 18mo book size or 4" x 6".

Funk and Wagnalls published "pocket books" early in the 20th century for anyone to be able to acquire and carry around classic literature for reading. The small pocket books were perfect for carrying in purse or pocket and reading anywhere. Priced for any reader, the set allowed for a collection of great fiction literature.
