Set of 19 World's Greatest Literature Circa 1950's Spencer Press 19 Volumes of the original 20 volume set Literature Fiction History Books

This is a very good set of 19 hardcovers. Originally published in 1936, the set was reprinted in the 1940's & 50's. Since the publisher did not update the copyright pages, there is no way to tell the exact copyright date. Most likely this set is a reprint set from the 1950's. Each volume is very good inside and out. On a couple volumes there is light tanning inside front cover where an original pamphlet had been placed leaving tanning. Rest of pages in each volume are very clean with only a hint of light natural tanning from age. Each cover is bound in brown with green block and gold lettering along spine that lists the title, series and volume number. The hardcover boards on all are very good with only light shelf wear. The bindings on all are tight and straight with pages tightly bound. Each volume is crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.

Spencer Press published The World's Greatest Literature for "average" readers to have copies of great books at a great price. Bound to give a fine binding look with brown hardcover boards and green block/gold lettering on spine, they give the look of collectible books for the bookshelf and decor. Each volume contains an illustrated frontispiece.
