This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover w accompanying slipcase and original Heritage Press Sandglass pamphlet. 1991 Heritage Press. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Green cloth hardcover boards are also near fine and feature gold design with horse and carriage illustration front and gold lettering spine. The accompanying brown slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Super octavo book size or 7" x 11" with 145 pages.
Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs is a play first performed in Boston in 1930. This edition if finely illustrated by Thomas Hart Benton w an Intro by Brooks Atkinson. It is the basis for the 1943 musical "Oklahoma!" which went on to be adapted into film. The play revolves around early American pioneer life and the rocky romances and social influences that accompany the pioneers. It is about a love triangle between a farm girl, a cowhand and a farmhand set on the backdrop of the Great Plains, 1900.
