The short story of Rip Van Winkle was published in 1819, and Sleepy Hollow published in 1820. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow needs no introduction as it remains one of the most beloved stories in literature for its imaginative story of a headless horseman. Rip Van Winkle has remained as a favorite tale of falling asleep and awakening decades later to a much changed society. Other stories in this edition include; The Broken Heart, Roscoe, A Royal Poet, The Country Church, The Widow and Her Son, The Inn Kitchen and more. 32 short stories in all which were originally published as The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon.
