This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1967 Heritage Press. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are crisp and clean w no markings seen. The fine binding is tight and straight and features solid sewn binding highlighting the quality. Tan linen type hardcover boards feature Sleepy Hollow horseman design front with title/author lettering on spine. The hardcover boards are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is solid and near fine with no fading and only a hint of shelf wear. This copy includes the original Heritage Press Sandglass pamphlet. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 399 pages including appendix.

The short story of Rip Van Winkle was published in 1819, and Sleepy Hollow published in 1820. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow needs no introduction as it remains one of the most beloved stories in literature for its imaginative story of a headless horseman. Rip Van Winkle has remained as a favorite tale of falling asleep and awakening decades later to a much changed society.
