This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1974 Heritage Press. Contains original Heritage Press Sandglass pamphlet. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: there is light dust spotting along outer page edges but does not carry over to inside. Otherwise near fine. The pages are still crisp and clean w no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Illustrated hardcover boards with half maroon trim are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 431 pages.
Originally published in 1847 under her pen name of Currer Bell, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë is considered one of the greatest English novels of all time. This edition is finely illustrated with lithographs by Barnett Freedman. The Gothic Romance novel is told from first-person narrative with themes of social class and feminism. Initial reception was not positive given the times but since the novel has consistently been ranked in the top 100 of all time.
