This is a good leather bound hardcover. Circa assumed 1930's Thomas Crowell Publishing. No copyright page stating exact publishing date. This copy is good inside and out. CONDITION NOTES: Overall this copy is very good inside. There is light natural tanning to pages from age but they are clean. Previous owners bookplate placed inside front cover (see photo). the pages are clean w no foxing just light tanning to pages. the binding is tight and straight. Bound in maroon leather, the cover is good, featuring gold title lettering front and spine with minimal wearing to lettering. There is wearing of the leather cover front near bottom, see last photo for wearing of leather cover front right edges. Illustrated frontispiece of Shelly still has original tissue guard in place Top page edges tipped in gold showing light wear to gold gilt. The leather cover is soft and supple and considered good given age. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 7.5" with 705 pages.
This edition from Crowell Publishing is a reprint from the original published in 1839. It is assumed this is an "anniversary" edition, circa 1930's, bound in maroon leather to commemorate the First Edition. It includes an Intro by Edward Dowden with a preface by Mrs Shelly as found in the first collected edition. It contains Shelley's works along with an appendix, list of principle writings, order and index of poems.
