This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket and original accompanying map of Alaska. 1991 National Geographic Society Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. White hardcover boards under jacket feature the Nat Geo design on front and are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Standard super octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 200 pages.
The author of Alaska's Wildlife Treasures, Tom Melham, stated that "bears are always biggest when they are coming your way", and he would know firsthand. He joined biologists in tagging and studying Kodiak bears. He wondered if the tranquilizer would take affect in time as a 500 pound bear charged his way. It did, and he continued to spend a summer in the land of Alaska. This book covers Alaskan wildlife in spectacular photography and engaging text detailing the habits, travels, and lives of the great wild animals of Alaska.
