This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket. 1946 Harcourt Brace reprint, True First Editions would have been 1945 London Secker and Warburg with only 4,000 copies to start and "First Published 1945" on the copyright page. Reprints began in late '45 and 1946, most with "reprinted" on copyright pages. Harcourt Brace began reprints in 1946 and included dust jackets. This copy is a 1946 reprint, dust jacket missing. This copy is very good inside and out, NOTE: previous owners bookplate neatly placed inside front cover (see photo). Rest of pages appear very clean w no other markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Bound in blue/green hardcover boards, the boards front and back are very good with only light shelf wear to corners/edges. This is a smaller hardcover, crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 118 pages.
Animal Farm by George Orwell is the dystopian fiction classic novel about farm animals who rebel against their human farmer. They wish to create a society where animals are equal, free and happy. Ultimately they are betrayed under the dictatorship of Napoleon, a fellow pig.
