The Discourses of Epictetus are a series of lectures by the Greek philosopher. The essays have been highly influential and often quoted by Marcus Aurelius. The ancient lectures guided students towards practical philosophy and pursuing desires so as to avoid failures. The lectures were written down by Arrian, a student of Epictetus. This edition is finely illustrated by Hans Erni and have been translated by P.E. Matheson.
