This is a very good set of two hardcovers. Albert Camus notebooks 1935-1942 and Albert Camus notebooks 1942-1951. Each is a First Edition from Knopf Publishing. 1935-1942 Notebooks First American Edition 1963 and 1942-1951 Notebooks First American Edition 1965. Each volume is very good inside and out. NOTE: 1942-1951 volume has previous owners name and note written inside front cover and some personal notes written inside back cover, see photos. The 1935-1942 volume has previous owners name written inside front cover with no other notes etc seen. Aside from the aforementioned notes/name no other markings or notes seen inside either volume. 1935-1942 volume is bound in blue cloth and is very good inside and out. The binding is tight and straight. 1942-1951 volume is bound in brown cloth and is also very good inside and out. The binding is tight and straight. Each volume is standard octavo book size or 6" x 9". There are NO dust jackets with either volume.
The Notebooks of Albert Camus are translated editions of the notes of the French philosopher, writer, journalist and political activist. The 1935-1942 notes have been translated from French by Philip Thody and include a preface and notes. The 1942-1951 notes have been translated from French and annotated by Justin O'Brien.
