This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1991 Harper Collins Publishing. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: under inside of front jacket flap is previous owners name neatly written in the corner. The pages are crisp and clean with no other markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Brown hardcover boards with tan quarter trim under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is near fine with only very light shelf wear. Larger hardcover, Super octavo book size or 7" x 10.5" with 722 pages including index, and bibliography.
This edition of Bulfinch's Mythology has been edited with a commentary by Richard Martin. Included are Intro, Notes and Bibliography. Sections include; The Age of Fable, The Age of Chivalry, and Legends of Charlemagne.
Inside are the myths of Venus and Adonis, Daphne and Apollo, Jupiter and Juno, Pandora and her fateful box, legends of the Trojan War, wanderings of Ulysses and much more. The edition contains all of Bulfinch's original text along with notes and intros. Commentaries introduce the myths and legends. 50 specially commissioned drawings accompany the text.
