This is a very good hardcover. 1942 Walter J Black Publishing, Published for The Classics Club. This copy is still crisp and clean inside. The pages are crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 339 pages.
In the 1940's The Classics Club published a series of books designed to provide the general public with classic literature and works of distinction. Walter J. Black published the books and they were designed with a fine binding appearance that owners could collect and display without breaking the bank. The bindings are very nice and feature very nice sewn (not glued) bindings with red top stain to outer edge. The Classics Club logo appears on the front and title/author lettering on spine. They were handsomely displayed by owners and collected for both appearance and substance.
Selected Poems by Robert Browning contains the major works of the English Poet. He was one of the most prominent Victorian poets. Sonnets, Poems, Dramatic Lyrics, Dramatic Romances, Dramatic Personae, Prologue From Fifine at the Fair, From Pacchiarotto, Dramatic Idylls and more are included. It includes an Intro by Pierre Loving and is the 1942 Walter J Black Publishing edition for The Classics Club.
