This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1988 Heritage Press Edition. This copy crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: they're light dust spotting along outer top pages edges (see photo) but does not carry over to inside. Inside pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tan hardcover boards with black quarter trim feature Roman design front and gold title/author lettering along spine. The hardcover boards are also near fine with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying gold slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Royal octavo book size or 6.5" x 10" with 524 pages.
This edition of Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz from Heritage Press includes the original Heritage Press Sandglass pamphlet. It has been translated from the Polish by Jeremiah Curtin with an Intro by Harold Lamb. It is finely illustrated by Salvatore Fiume.
Henryk Sienkiewicz was a Polish writer known for his epic historical novels. Quo Vidas has been adapted for both theatre and film. The novel was subtitle A Narrative of the Time of Nero. The author studied the Roman Empire extensively before writing the novel. Several historical characters appear in the novel. The novel contributed to Sienkiewicz's Nobel Prize for Literature award in 1905.
