This edition of two plays by George Bernard Shaw, Pygmalion and Candida, has an Intro by Alan Strachan and is finely illustrated with 8 color plates by Clarke Hutton. Shaw was an Irish playwright and activist. Pygmalion is a 1912 play hasten satirizes the British class and makes commentary on the independence of women. A professor makes a bet that he can coach a simple flower girl to pass for a duchess. Social class and stereotypical views come into play.
Candida is an 1894 comedy that comments on Victorian ideas about love and marriage. Political views of the time also play into the theme.
