This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1999 University of Iowa Press. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tan cloth hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The Shape of Inca History is subtitled Narrative and Architecture in an Andean Empire. The book considers the ways in which the Inca concept of history informed their narratives, rituals, and architecture. Using 16th century chronicles if Inca culture, legal documents from the first generation of conquest, and field investigations, the author explores the oral and written histories with the architectural record and provides an understanding of the lives of the Inca. It is a fascinating reconstruction and is extensively illustrated and photographed.
