A woman is found dead and the primary suspect is found near the scene with bloody hands. 36 hours later, he is dead, found inside the jailhouse. Police close the case but that is where Scudder comes in. The woman's father lays down the money to solve the both crimes but it is not going to be as easy at that. Scudder has been around long enough to know it is going to be a dirty job.....
