This is a very good paperback. 1989 California University Press, Revised and Expanded at the time. We noticed 10 or 12 pages with a line circled in pen or a small note in margin but overall the majority of the pages are very clean, white and bright. The binding is tight and straight, NO creasing along spine. The cover is very clean and still shiny with only a hint of shelf wear. Super octavo book she or 7" x 10.5" with 634 pages not including appendix and index.

There is a 2008 Anniversary Edition of this title, also published by University of California. This 1989 paperback was the revised English literature criticism of annotations to James Joyce's Ulysses and comprise a specialized encyclopedia that will inform any reading of the classic novel. Annotations are keyed both to the reading text of the critical edition of Ulysses published in 1984 and the current Modern Library and Vintage texts. There is an intro and headnotes.
