This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1982 Franklin Library Illustrated by Edward Ardizzone. NOTE: although many Franklin Library editions are leather-bound, you have to watch which editions are and are not. This edition is NOT leather-bound. It is a cheaper reprint but still featuring most of the fine binding appointments found in Franklin Library. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: only wearing is title/author lettering along spine. Otherwise near fine. Fine binding appointments from Franklin Library include red leather boards, Smyth sewn binding, hubbed spine, and all 3 pages edges tipped in gold gilt. The only binding appointment not found is the absence of attached satin bookmark and silk moire endpapers. Standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 533 pages.
Barchester Towers by Anthony Trollope was originally published in 1857 and is actually the second book in the Chronicles of Barsetshire series. It is a satirical portrait of the religious hierarchy and the followers. It was adapted into a British television series in 1982.
