This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1946 Clarke & Sherwell Publishing Great Britain. This copy is clean inside and out. The pages only have very light natural tanning from age and are clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards matching dust jacket illustration and lettering are also very good with light shelf wear mostly to corners/edges. The accompanying dust jacket is very good with light shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 47 pages.
British Botanists by John Gilmour was one title in a series published in the 1940's called Britain in Pictures. The book covers the work and lives of men such as Robert Morison who held the first botanical chair at Oxford in 1669, the Hookers, father and son who made Kew Gardens as we know it, and many others. The book features 8 plates in colour and 19 illustrations in black and white.
