This is a very good hardcover. 1952 Lakeside Press Edition. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages are very clean with no markings seen. Illustrated frontispiece of Custer opposite title page. The binding is tight and straight and the edition features gold gilt page edges along top edge only. Maroon hardcover boards are also very good with gold design front and gold lettering along spine. Smaller hardcover, crown octavo book size or 5" x 7.5" with 626 pages including index.
Originally published in 1872, My Life on the Plains by George A. Custer is an autobiography written just before he departed for the Montana campaign and his demise at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It covers his life from the end of the Civil War to the campaigns against the Cheyenne and Sioux and the Battle of the Washita in 1868.
