This is a very good two volume set of hardcovers with accompanying slipcase. 1952 MacMillan Publishing. This set is very good inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no foxing or marks seen either volume. The binding is tight and straight. Bound in fine sewn binding, not glued, which ensures durability. Navy blue hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Slipcase features title/author/publisher pastedown front and edition descriptive text back. Each volume is medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" 988 pages collectively including index.
The War of the Revolution by Christopher Ward is a remarkable account of the military aspects of the American Revolution. It presents graphic portrayals of the fortifications, the terrain over which battles were fought, the role of Native Americans, gun technology and hundreds of additional details. Volume One begins with the Battle of Bunker Hill and the siege of Boston. It continues through The Battle of Bennington. Volume Two picks up with St Leger's Route to Fort Stanwix and ends with the Siege of Yorktown.
