This is a very good small pocket book hardcover. 1926 Macmillan Pocket Classics. This copy is very good inside and out. There is some light nature tanning to pages from age but they are very clean w no foxing seen. Brown hardcover boards are also very good w embossed design on cover. NOTE: there is wearing off of the lettering to front cover and spine. Originally in gold, the title/author lettering on spine is worn off but aside from that wearing the brown hardcover boards are very good and solid. This is a "pocket book" designed at the time to be carried in pocket or purse for reading anywhere. 16mo book size or 4" x 6.5" with 560 pages.
Not to be confused with Prime Minister Winston Spencer Churchill, this novel, Richard Carvel, was written by American novelist Winston Churchill. It is a historical novel first published in 1899. It is a novel in the form of memoirs of Richard Carvel. Upon release it was highly praised as as "serious" and "notable" and the best historical novel from an American author at the time. It was incredibly successful. The success is attributed to its authenticity, being a romantic historical novel of the American Revolutionary Period. It has been adapted for film and stage.
