This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Second Printing 2004 Folio Society. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Illustrated hardcover boards with black quarter trim are also near fine BUT there is some wearing of the gold title/author/publisher lettering along spine. The accompanying slipcase in black is also near fine with only a hint of shelf wear. Fine binding from Folio Society with handsome illustrated cover and durable sewn not glued binding. Smaller hardcover, 12mo book size or 5" x 7.5" with 365 pages.
This edition of The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce from Folio Society has an intro by Miles Kington and is illustrated by Peter Forster. This is a satirical dictionary of common words followed by humorous and satirical definitions. First published in 1906 as The Cynic's Word Book, the authors work was frequently copies and imitated for years before he gathered them into a book. The second book was a complete collection of his "definitions" and subsequently named "The Devils Dictionary".
