This is a very good hardcover, NO slipcase as published, slipcase missing. 1969 Heritage Press. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages are pages are very clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. No foxing inside and very little if any tanning to pages. Tan cloth hardcover boards are also very good with light shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 282 pages. The book is finely illustrated by Frederic Dorr Steele and Paul Gauguin.
The Moon and Sixpence by W. Somerset Maugham is a biographical novel based in part on the life of artist Paul Gauguin. The central character is a middle-aged stockbroker who abandons his life as he knows it. Leaving behind his wife and children, he suddenly leaves all behind to pursue his desire to become an artist.
