This is a very good set of 3 hardcover. 1906 MacMillan Publishing. This set is very good inside and out. The pages inside are very clean with no foxing. NOTE: inside front cover all 3 is an unmarked bookplate one side and previous owners name neatly written top corner other side. We did see very occasional underlined sentence or very small note in margin on a few pages of each volume, but it is not extensive or obtrusive. The bindings on all three are tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards have handsome gold design and author name embossed front cover with bold title lettering down spine. They are all crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" each.
This 3 volume set of music and music composer history contains the following titles: The Romantic Composers, From Greig to Brahms, and Contemporary Composers all written by Daniel Gregory Mason. All three volume have a portrait of the featured composer of the chapter as a frontispiece to the chapter. Romantic Composers include chapters on Schubert, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Berlioz, and Liszt. From Grieg to Brahms is a study of modern composers and their art. Contemporary Composers features chapters on Strauss, Elgar, Debussy, d'Indy and Music in America.
All three books have an introductory chapter.
