This is a near fine (almost like new) rare signed by illustrator limited edition two volume hardcover set with accompanying slipcase and Limited Edition Club monthly letter as originally published. 1959 Limited Edition Club. This set is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages inside are crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Red cloth hardcovers set in slipcase. The hardcover books are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and the accompanying slipcase is like. Hardcover boards have gold design and lettering that show no fading. Royal octavo book size or 7" x 10" each.
The Memoirs of Louis De Rouvroy Duc de Saint Simon Covering the Years 1691-1723 has been edited by Desmond Flower. It is a Limited Edition set signed by the illustrator this set being number 908 of 1500 sets printed. The author signature and edition information can be found on the last page of Volume Two. Laid into Volume One is the original accompanying Limited Edition Monthly Letter. The volumes are finely illustrated by Pierre Brissaud and hand colored in the Walter Fischer Studio.
Saint Simon was a French soldier, diplomat, and memoirist, of which is memoirs are a French literature classic.
