This is a leather-bound hardcover. Circa 1980's Time Life Classics of the Old West Series. Each of the original 16 volumes in this series was photographically reproduced from the First Edition, and thus preserves the historical authenticity of the original, including typo-graphical errors and printing irregularities. Bound in brown leather, the edition features embossed "Longhorn" design front cover with gold lettering. All three page edges tipped in gold gilt. Marbled endpapers inside front and back add to the fine binding. Attached gold satin ribbon bookmark. Standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5".
This copy is very clean inside and out. There is light wearing to the gold gilt page edges but overall very good. The brown leather cover is very good and showing only very light shelf wear. The attached ribbon bookmark is also good with only very light fraying bottom edge. The binding is tight and straight. Each volume in this Old West series was originally accompanied by a page of notes and Old West Classic bookplate for the new owner. This copy contains the page Old West bookplate affixed to the first blank page, unmarked from previous owner BUT does NOT contain the original accompanying notes.

Life on the Plains and Among the Diggings by A. Delano is subtitled Scenes and Adventures of an Overland Journey to California with particular incidents of the Route, Mistakes and Sufferings of the Indian Tribes, The Present and Future of the Great West. It is the history of pioneering to California, overland travel of settlers and general history of the Old West and Native Americans.
