This is a leather-bound hardcover. Circa 1980's Time Life Classics of the Old West Series. Each of the original 16 volumes in this series was photographically reproduced from the First Edition, and thus preserves the historical authenticity of the original, including typo-graphical errors and printing irregularities. Bound in brown leather, the edition features embossed "Longhorn" design front cover with gold lettering. All three page edges tipped in gold gilt. Marbled endpapers inside front and back add to the fine binding. Attached gold satin ribbon bookmark. Standard medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5".
This copy is very clean inside and out. There is light wearing to the gold gilt page edges but overall very good. The brown leather cover is very good and showing only very light shelf wear. The attached ribbon bookmark is also good with only very light fraying bottom edge. The binding is tight and straight. Each of the volume in this series originally contained a page of notes and Old West Classic bookplate for the new owner. This copy is accompanied by both items, as originally supplied.
A Texas Cowboy by Charlie Siringo is subtitled "Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Pony". It was originally published in 18895. It is one of the few books that offers a true look into the life of a real cowboy and was actually written by someone who lived the life. Siringo was a lawman, cowboy, detective and agent for the Pinkerton Agency.
